Hockey Training Program
During the off season we will help prepare you to dominate at try-outs and then continue to build greater stride length, stride frequency and improved anaerobic hockey conditioning.
We will improve your stability and strength so you can complete an entire 45-second shift at a higher level, due to stronger edges, more power and increased endurance.
Athletic Republic plyometric training sessions incorporate our patented Conditioning Cords and the Republic Box to increase first-step quickness, core stability, shot velocity and overall explosiveness. Athletes have gained as much as 8 mph on their shots. We will also work on stick handling, shooting techniques and reaction drills on our synthetic ice.
Skating is the foundation of playing hockey. It takes proper skating mechanics, explosive speed, quickness and balance to consistently outmaneuver your opponents and become a top player. This is why hundreds of past and present professional hockey players have trained at Athletic Republic.

BEACH CITY LIGHTNING TO MERGE TEAMS WITHIN
ANAHEIM JR. DUCKS PROGRAM FOR 2012-13 SEASON
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks today announced that the Beach City Lightning Hockey Association is merging its respective amateur teams within the Anaheim Jr. Ducks program for the 2012-13 season.
“Building off our recent collaboration with the Orange County Hockey Club, today’s merger with the Beach City Lightning Hockey Association gives the Jr. Ducks program another jolt for the 2012-13 season,” said Vice President of THE RINKS Art Trottier. “We welcome all players from Beach City Lightning into the Jr. Ducks program and anticipate highly-skilled games this fall at Anaheim ICE and Westminster ICE.”
Since its inception in 1995, the Anaheim Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) has continued to provide youth hockey players with the highest level of personal development both on and off the ice. The Jr. Ducks program is also part of the Southern California Amateur Hockey Association (SCAHA), California Amateur Hockey Association and USA Hockey. The AAHA currently hosts Tier I and II, A and B levels, the most teams from a single association within the SCAHA. The AAHA’s experienced coaching staff - with many former professional players - has led successful Jr. Ducks teams to numerous award-winning seasons and playing in tournaments throughout the United States and Canada.

ANAHEIM JUNIOR DUCKS AND ORANGE COUNTY HOCKEY CLUB TO MERGE MIDGET 16U AND 18U AAA TEAMS FOR 2012-13
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks today announced that the Anaheim Jr. Ducks program and the Orange County Hockey Club will merge its two teams in each of the Midget 16U AAA and Midget 18U AAA divisions for the 2012-13 season. The Jr. Ducks Midget 16U AAA and 18U AAA teams will compete in the North American Prospects League and be coached by Jim Burcar and Mark
Mollica, respectively. Tryouts for the Jr. Ducks 16U and 18U teams will begin on Friday, June 1. Additional tryout information will be posted at www.JrDucks.com and www.ochockeyclub.com when it becomes available.
“Merging our two Jr. Ducks teams in the 18- and 16-under divisions with the Orange County Hockey Club will strengthen each individual team and give the program a stronger chance of success as we move forward in 2012-13,” said Vice President of THE RINKS Art

NEW SCHOOL JOINS THE ANAHEIM DUCKS HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY LEAGUE
For several months there have been discussions underway about bringing ice hockey to Los Alamitos High School. The Anaheim Ducks High School League which began just a few years ago in Orange County served as a solution to make this realty. After a final meeting last week with representatives from
LAUSD, parents and Art
Trottier, VP of The Rinks, the green light was given to move foward with forming an ice hockey club at Los Alamitos High School.
The goal is to provide students not only a new sport, but most importantly another way to become involved. This will also give players the 'high school feel' with classmates and faculty in the stands cheering them on. The Anaheim Ducks are the catalyst that made this happen and will be funding much of the program with no expense to the district. It's a great opportunity for Los Al to be involved with an NHL franchise.
The first step is to hold a new parent/player meeting hosted by Art Trottier with the Ducks, to go over the specifics of the program with dates, cost, location, etc. The meeting is set for Monday, May 14 at
7:00pm. The location will be The Rinks Westminster ICE. Please email RSVP and questions to
info@losalicehockey.com or call Darren de Leo at 562-244-2577 or Richard Castellanos at 714-926-0448.
Over the next week you will be able to follow the team and upcoming events on the web,
click here to visit the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League website.

KALIYA JOHNSON FINALIST FOR SULLIVAN AWARD
Former Lady Duck, Kaliya Johnson is a finalist for the Sullivan Award. The AAU Sullivan Award honors the nation's outstanding amateur athlete. The award, which has been presented annually since 1930, is based on character, leadership and sportsmanship.
Kaliya played for the Anaheim Amateur Hockey Association for seven years. She scored her first international goal with the USA Select Team last August. Her contribution, along with Annie Pankowski, another Lady Duck teammate, helped to contribute to Silver medal success for the USA Hockey 18U Women's National team. Ryan was nominated by his coach for being the ultimate team player. He never complains and works very hard in practice. He is a very polite and considerate player and the past month has really been a breakout for him. He's starting playing with confidence and leads his team defensively. He has improved tremendously and continues to make good decisions on the ice.

S.M. Ice Hockey Team Packs 50,000 meals for kids in Haiti
On Saturday the SMCHS ice hockey team hung up the skates for hair nets as they packed over 50,000 meals for hungry kids in Haiti. The team volunteered for “Kids Around the World”, a non-profit organization who hosted a food packing event at Saddleback College Saturday morning. The organization sends food packets consisting of rice, vegetables and protein to feed orphans in earthquake ravaged Haiti.
Both Varsity and JV teams and their families came out in force as they represented Santa Margarita Catholic High School and the NHL Ducks who sponsor their team at the event. “This is a worthwhile project and our kids embraced the opportunity” said Assistant Coach Mitch O’Brien. “It is an amazing feeling to see all those meals being packed and our kids working together to get it done” he added.
